The first thing you need to do is think of a name for your site and buy a domain name. Head to GoDaddy.com and search for the name which you want for your site, someone may already have the name so you will need to be flexible. Once you have found the website name that you want click buy and you have completed your first step.
Hosting
Next up you need to find a host for your website, again this is simple to do and with a quick search online you can find plenty of great offers from companies who can host you. A host is basically like a landlord who you are paying in order to put your site online.
CMS
A CMS is a content management system, these services are in place so that you do not need to have high level technical knowledge of coding or such things in order to create a great website. Companies like WordPress fro example allow you to put your website up through them and then they have a whole host of features and easy-to-use applications which can help you to get your website to the masses with ease.
Designing
The CMS which you choose will give you several options to easily design your site to tailor it to your own specific needs. Many of them have pre-designed templates which you can use and tweak to add the font, color or layout of you choosing. I you are in any doubt about designing your site then you should look at some of the sites which you love and see how they are designed and what colors they have used and take it as inspiration for your own.
Add Content
The final piece of the puzzle is to add content to your site and this is entirely up to you how you do it and what you write about. The key thing to remember when you are placing content on your site is understanding what it is that people want. Ask yourself honestly if you would read what you are writing were it on the site of someone else, if the answer is no then it is time to go back to the drawing board.
